It all starts with…
A 2-voice interview with the co-founders of Fika DMC, to find out more about this French incoming agency with an enigmatic name, resolutely focused on ecotourism and sharing original experiences in territories off the beaten track!
What is the origin of the word Fika? Why did you choose it?
Fika is a well-established ritual in Sweden for employees, friends and family members to enjoy a cup of coffee, usually accompanied by a sweet or savory treat. The Swedes make the break a shared parenthesis, before resuming their day. ika’s social dimension makes it an invaluable pretext for slowing down, appreciating the present moment, doing oneself good, extracting oneself from the hustle and bustle. .
In the same spirit, with Fika DMC, we invite you to an enchanted interlude in France, where we know every corner. Our aim is to make you slow down, so that you can appreciate each moment with happiness and intensity. We are committed to make you travel differently, in slow modeoff the beaten track: experiences connected to nature. Our aim is to help you meet men and women who love their region, to help you appreciate the hidden addresses of our towns and cities, to approach them with a curious and sharp eye, from a new angle, and finally to awaken your senses with flavors from local products crafted with love. This way of travelling acts as a real disconnect, just like the Fika break, it does you good!
Which trip best represents the Fika DMC spirit?
Guided by our commitment to eco-responsibility, we’ve come up with a wide selection of experiences and discoveries as close to nature as possible. For it’s by reconnecting with the natural environment that the obvious need to take care of it becomes apparent. For it’s by reconnecting with the natural environment that the obvious need to take care of it becomes apparent.
We’ve focused all our trips on gentle travel: on foot, by bike, by train and why not by sailboat… We’re passionate about immersive stays in the heart of France’s most beautiful regions: Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Occitanie, Bretagne, Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur. Among our nuggets, I give you 3 examples of eco-responsible stays: you can survey the Auvergne volcanoes region with a combination of hiking, edible plant picking and cooking workshops, choose a cycling itinerary between land and sea to discover the exceptional natural and cultural environment of the Camargue, and finally explore the beautiful city of Lyon combined with encounters with the culinary goldsmiths of the Vallée de la Gastronomie®.
In addition to hiking and biking, we can add a wide range of outdoor and wellness activities “à la carte”, tastings and meetings with artisans and producers, intimate nights in an ecolodge or a comfortable cabin in the forest… and why not try your hand at the art of bivouacking in nature?
Who is Fika DMC designed for?
